Conditions Treated

Conditions treated by Dr. Patel.

From sports injuries to complex joint disease — if it affects your shoulder or elbow, we treat it.

Tendon

Partial-thickness, full-thickness, and massive cuff tears. Most are repaired arthroscopically, with the specific approach tailored to the tear.

Signs to watch
Pain at night Weakness lifting overhead Catching with motion

Tear of the pec major tendon, often from heavy bench press. Surgical repair restores strength and contour, best within weeks of injury.

Signs to watch
Pop with bench press Bruising in chest/arm Loss of pec contour

Biceps tendinitis, partial tears, and complete ruptures. Tenodesis or tenotomy when needed.

Signs to watch
Pain in front of shoulder Popeye deformity Cramping with curls
Joint

Cartilage wear causing stiffness and pain. Treated with injections, regenerative care, or joint replacement.

Signs to watch
Deep aching pain Grinding sensation Loss of motion

Rotator cuff tears too large or long-standing to repair directly. Reverse total shoulder arthroplasty restores function dramatically when the cuff can't be repaired.

Signs to watch
Pseudoparalysis Cuff arthropathy Failed prior repair

From mild sprains to high-grade separations. Most managed conservatively; surgery for severe or chronic cases.

Signs to watch
Pain on top of shoulder Visible bump Pain crossing arm over body
Stability

Tears of the cartilage rim that stabilizes the shoulder, common in throwers and after dislocation.

Signs to watch
Clicking or popping Deep shoulder pain Instability

Recurrent dislocations or subluxations stabilized with arthroscopic Bankart or open Latarjet procedures.

Signs to watch
Feeling shoulder slipping Apprehension overhead History of dislocation
Stiffness

Capsular inflammation and stiffness. Treated with PT, injections, or arthroscopic capsular release.

Signs to watch
Painful loss of motion Stiffness reaching back Night pain
Trauma

Proximal humerus, clavicle, and scapula fractures — fixation or replacement based on pattern.

Signs to watch
Severe pain after fall Bruising and swelling Inability to lift arm
Revision

Revision of failed arthroscopic procedures or prior shoulder replacements — including painful, loose, or infected implants.

Signs to watch
Persistent pain after surgery Recurrent instability Stiffness or weakness post-op
Elbow

Avulsion of the triceps tendon from the olecranon. Surgical reattachment restores elbow extension strength.

Signs to watch
Pop at back of elbow Weak elbow extension Swelling and bruising

Lateral and medial epicondylitis treated with bracing, PT, PRP, or minimally invasive debridement.

Signs to watch
Pain gripping Tenderness over elbow Weakness in forearm

Sudden tendon rupture at the elbow — best outcomes with surgical repair within 3 weeks.

Signs to watch
Pop with lifting Bruising at elbow Loss of supination strength

Treated with injections, arthroscopic debridement, or in advanced cases, elbow replacement.

Signs to watch
Stiff arc of motion Locking Aching with use
